TCRO was founded in 2015 by a group of Tanzanian debaters who believed the country deserved a stronger culture of argument, dialogue and intellectual competition.
After participating in major continental and world championships, the founders returned home to build Tanzania’s first debate organization.
Led by Dominic Mwakifulefule and Anthony Joseph, the organization began building platforms where students could challenge ideas, find their voices and compete with the best in Africa. What started as a small initiative has since grown into a national movement impacting tens of thousands of students.
Today, TCRO stands as the country’s leading institution for World Schools Debate, public speaking and spelling bee competitions.
We establish debate clubs where they do not exist, revive dormant debate clubs and add new life to active debate clubs. One of our key missions in schools is also to make administrators, teachers and parents understand the value of debate as a core curricular activity, weaving it into the day to day culture of the school and to guide teachers on how to incorporate debate into their classrooms.
We are the most daring debate organization on the continent of Africa. What makes us different is our bravery to try new things and set new trends, break new barriers that others come to follow..
We provide opportunities for debate programs, training, competitions (both local and international) and a multicultural environment for students to experience.
