

Founded in 2015, the Tanzanian Competitive Rhetoric Organization (TCRO) promotes critical thinking and communication skills through debate, public speaking and spelling bee competitions across East Africa. We also support debate programs and organize trainings in schools.

In Tanzania, debate matters because we have garnered a reputation as a country that doesn't speak; a silent, sleeping giant. We need speakers who will go out to change the narrative of Tanzania.
We organize team debates that follow the international WSDC format, developing research skills, strategy, teamwork and high-level argumentation.
Competitions include Public Speaking events with prepared and impromptu speeches that build confidence, structure, and persuasive delivery.
This is a classic academic competition that strengthens vocabulary as well as an appreciation of language roots and history.
